SMP is a follicle simulation technique. While the results are realistic and the completed procedure does give an appearance of full head of shaved hair, it doesn’t grow new ‘real’ hair.

Technically speaking, micropigmentation and tattoo are very much alike,  but there is lot of difference in some aspects, ranging from material, depth of deposition, aesthetics etc.

The first step of the process is a detailed consultation with the SMP provider. The client is made aware about the procedure so that he can freely make-up his mind and also his detailed medical history is noted.

After this, the SMP provider and client plan a customized hair line that suits the facial structure, age and requirements of the client.

If it’s a whole head SMP, the first step is to trim all the hair close to the scalp, because for the final shaved head look, the simulated follicles have to match the appearance of original shaved hair.

The hairline design and trim won’t be required if it’s only a density treatment. A numbing cream (if required) is then applied locally on the scalp and after 45 minutes the procedure can start.

A high quality rotary type micropigmentation pen is used which is able deliver the pigment at precise depth giving a perfect follicle simulation. The procedure is practically painless ( 2.5 on 10) and the client can enjoy his/her favorite music as the sessions continue.

At Follicraft® the Scalp micropigmentation procedures are performed in a calm and serene environment, and often the clients fall asleep during the procedure.

Usually it takes 3-4 sittings depending upon the quantum of work that needs to be done for a perfect SMP look.

First sitting may take around 4 hours or so. Second sitting, usually after at a gap of one week is to build up more density and may require another 4 Hours.

Third and final sitting is required in most of the clients to give the desired finishing touches or to do minor modifications if required.

The sessions are usually scheduled, a 10 days to 14 days apart from each other.

Yes, you are free to continue with your work even just after the procedure. You need not take holiday from work or college. There may be only mild redness on scalp for some hours after the procedure, which subsides on the first day itself. Mild heavyness may be experienced in scalp on the first night during the sleep. However overall the xperience is very comfortable.

Your service provider will provide you a list of simple dos and donts for next 7-10 days as an aftercare for ensuring long lasting results.

At Follicraft®  we provide a customized After Care routine after the Scalp micropigmentation, to support healthy and fast recovery from the session and aiming at highest retention of implanted pigment.

SMP is performed with a rotary micropigmentation pen device with disposable  microneedle cartridges.

Use of needles might sound painful but the truth is that an authorized practitioner may use suitable numbing cream on your scalp for about half an hour before procedure. The numbing thus achieved makes sure that the whole procedure is comfortable for the client.

There is minimal redness after the procedure which usually fades off in a day or two, but it does not interfere with client’s work or daily essential activities.

At Follicraft®  most of the clients prefer to not use any numbing and describe the pain level between 2.5-3.5 on Scale of 10. Which is decently comfortable for most of the clients.
